This chapter presents data-based information from current official statistics regarding the levels, trends, & high-risk groups & factors of adolescent suicide in the United States. Included among these figures are statistical data for the age subgrouping that comprise the youth population. In addition, epidemiological & research data for the spectrum of suicidal behaviours among adolescents are briefly reviewed, including nonfatal suicidal acts, suicidal ideation, & issues of survivors of suicide.
