This report describes the monitoring & data collection system that was implemented under the Oregon Death With Dignity Act, & summarizes the information collected on patients & physicians who had participated in the Act through December 31, 1998. The results of two studies conducted by the Oregon Health Department are also presented. Each study compared the characteristics of physician-assisted suicide participants with a sample of Oregon patients & physicians who did not participate in the Death With Dignity Act. (23 refs.)
