While resources are clearly inadequate to meet the needs of the numbers of children with mental health problems, the notion that such problems might be prevented from occurring in the first place is attractive. In this chapter, knowledge relevant to preventive activity including adolescent suicide prevention, is summarized. Attention is also drawn to a number of more comprehensive, multi-authored books on this subject. (104 refs.)
