This paper explores the complexities of the relationship between media depictions of violence & subsequent violent behaviour. Different forms of visual media are considered, i.e. television, films, videos, & video/computer games. The reporting of suicide on television news is briefly discussed in the context of imitative behaviours. A number of policy options for addressing the issue of violence in the media are proposed.
