This study collected data on the care of patients after a suicide attempt in Vasterbotten County, Sweden. Data were gathered on what kind of treatment the patients received in the acute phase & in the aftercare, & if differences in treatment could be related to different groups of patients. 5% of male patients (n=103) & 7% of female patients (n=185) went home directly from the emergency room. A common reason for non-contact was the patient refused further treatment. The presence of health care staff in this group of patients may be an issue of concern. (2 refs.)
