Lester (1987) reported the suicide rates of immigrants to Australia were associated with the size of the immigrant groups in the Australian population. The present study examined this association in the USA. The suicides rates of 12 immigrant groups were obtained from Dublin (1963) & the sizes of the immigrant groups from the 1960 Census. The suicide rates of the immigrant groups were not associated with the size of the groups in America, but they were associated with the 1960 suicide rates in their home nations. (2 refs.)
