Does Cholesterol Lowering Increase Non-illness-related Mortality?

In this letter to the editor, the authors comment on a study by Wysowski & Gross (1990) in which they examined the individual cases of death by accident, suicide, & violence in two cholesterol reduction trials. Muldoon et al assert the case record review was incomplete & data interpretation was based, in part, on dubious premises. The reply of Wysowski & Gross follows.
