This paper outlines a system of community planning strategies that can be utilized to address suicide & other behavioural crises when they arise in Indian & Native communities. It includes steps for developing plans that may be particularly useful for small, tightly-knit reservation-based populations. A basic principle underlying all such planning is that it should include & respect the particular history & culture of the tribe to ensure culturally sensitive programming. (10 refs.)
