The Oregon Plan for Youth Suicide Prevention: a Call to Action

15 strategies for state & community-based action are presented, including: develop & implement public education campaigns, promote efforts to reduce access to lethal means of self-harm, educate youth & young adults about suicide prevention, reduce harrassment in schools & communities, provide media education to reduce suicide contagion, provide education for professionals, provide gatekeeper training, implement screening & referral services, increase effectiveness of crisis hot lines, enhance crisis services, establish & maintain crisis response teams, improve access to affordable behavioural health care, provide skill-building support groups, support suicide survivors, & improve follow-up services for suicide attempters.
