Twin Research Perspective on Suicide and Suicidal Attempts (IN: Suicide Prevention: a Holistic Approach, edited by D De Leo, A Schmidtke, & R F W Diekstra)

The purpose of this paper is to summarize methods & findings from a new series of twin studies. An overview of twin types & twin study methodology is first provided. Issues, participants, methods, results, & implications from 3 new twin studies of suicide (Roy et al, 1990; Roy et al, 1995; Segal & Roy, 1995) are discussed next. Finally, the overall significance of this work & future research directions are considered. (36 refs.)
