This paper reports on an exploratory study which examined teacher’s perceptions of homophobic bullying, the responses made to this form of bullying, & the factors which impact on the provision of education & support to lesbian & gay pupils. Findings suggest teachers were aware of homophobic bullying but were unable or unwilling to address the needs of gay & lesbian pupils. Implications for policy, practice, & research are discussed.
