This paper provides a short overview of the latest available suicide figures in the world. Data were collected from the World Health Organization, suicidologists, & various statistical bureaus & organizations. The latest available statistics for each country were always used. Suicide rates among countries vary widely. Hungary, which has had one of the highest rates in Europe if not the world, has now been surpassed by some of the new Russian states. Male rates, with the exception of China, are higher than female rates. The question of the accuracy & reliability of suicide statistics is briefly addressed. (10 refs.)
