This study noted that poisonings with organophosphates & dipyridyl derivatives pose an essential toxicological problem. They are usually severe & require long hospitalization. The highest mortality rates were also seen among poisonings with these substances. Suicidal attempts constituted the most frequent cause of these poisonings. The results of the analysis imply a necessity to replace the most harmful organophosphates & dipyridyl pesticides with others of lower toxicity. To prevent accidental misuse, pesticides should be stored in the original, labelled containers. (2 refs.)
