Youth Suicide Prevention: “Big Picture Thinking” for Child and Youth Care Professionals

The purpose of this article is: 1) to call attention to the seriousness of youth suicidal behaviour; 2) to highlight the need for a comprehensive, “big-picture view” of suicide prevention that recognizes both the complexity of youth self-harming behaviour as well as the need for locally coordinated action that cuts across professional disciplines & community groups; & 3)to discuss the unique & important contributions to be made to the overall suicide prevention effort by child & youth care professionals.
