This manual was written to facilitate suicide prevention & counselling among First Nations peoples. Content includes: definitions, myths, true/false quizzes, a list of suicidal behaviours, a discussion of intent, & warning signs. Numerous examples are provided of ways to approach a person-at-risk & ask questions during a risk assessment. Statistics & case studies are included. A protocol for handling a crisis phone call is described. Questions are posed regarding the high rate of suicide among Aboriginal youth & the potential relationship of heavy metal music & deaths by suicide.
