Suicide has been an increasing problem in First Nations & Inuit communities of Canada over the past 25 years. This document provides background, information, & models for culturally relevant suicide prevention training. Subjects discussed include: the background of suicide in First Nation & Inuit cultures, cultural paradigms of suicide, understanding suicide, prevention skills, the part traditions & beliefs play in intervention, & community development.
