In this letter to the editor, the authors comment on a study by De Leo & his colleagues in which it is concluded that the loss of sight can induce psychological stress that can lead to suicide. The present authors dispute this conclusion arguing the data & case summaries do not substantiate these claims. A response from De Leo et al follows. (4 refs.)
