The New Zealand Youth Services Strategy reviewed the likely volume & nature of mental health problems, including suicide risk, of young people using youth welfare services & used this information to develop best practice guidelines for Child, Youth and Family social workers. This articles outlines the results of this review, specifically focusing on identifying the risk factors for suicide within the youth welfare population. (14 refs.)
