In 1986, Breault published an article, “Suicide in America: a Test of Durkheim’s Theory of Religious and Family Integration, 1933-1980” (see SIEC #1987-1653). In 1988, Girard published a commentary on Breault’s original study(see SIEC #2001-0425) in which he questioned Breault’s findings. In the present article, Breault responds to each of the 4 major concerns that Girard raised. (8 refs.)
