This study investigated the hypothesis that greater awareness of certain aspects of schizophrenia would be significantly correlated with more severe suicidality. Subjects included 223 adult patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. Analyses showed that insight into the need for treatment was significantly negatively associated with severity of suicidality. Further research is called for in this area. (27 refs.)
