International Organizations (IN: Suicide Prevention: Resources for the Millennium, edited by D Lester)

This chapter has two parts. In the first, the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) is discussed including the formation of this group, its objectives & accomplishments. The Adelaide Declaration on Suicide Prevention is also included. The second part of the chapter describes the International Academy for Suicide Research (IASR) including: history, foundation, objectives & statutes, meetings, membership, committees, the journal “Archives of Suicide Research”, ongoing projects, & the relationship of IASR and the IASP.
