Attitudinal Change to Suicidal Behaviour Over two Decades: a Longitudinal Study
Williams C L~~Haines J~~Barrow L
A survey of attitudes to, & beliefs & knowledge about suicidal behaviour of high risk cohort members (16-26 years, 55+ years) was conducted to determine changes over a 20-year period. This presentation discussed results of a comparison of the current survey & a study done 20 years ago. Less sympathetic attitudes to suicidal behaviour have coincided with increases in rates for the behaviour over the 20-year period. Increased sources of knowledge, including the media, may promote less sympathetic attitudes.
