This presentation discussed a study which explored the extent to which nurses felt competent to manage adolescents hospitalized on general adult medical wards & to examine nurses’ attitudes towards adolescents who had attempted suicide. It was concluded there is a need to increase nurses’ knowledge about adolescent suicide & to provide the skills needed to communicate, interact with, & manage adolescents who may be at risk or who have attempted suicide.
