This presentation discussed the LifeSPAN program in which a specific cognitive oriented individual psychotherapy was developed for young people with serious mental illness. The intervention was specifically designed to address the psychological issues pertaining to a young person’s suicidality that might complicate the experience of a serious mental illness. An analysis of the results of a randomised controlled trial of 59 patients was discussed. Comparisons were made between the treatment & control groups & their outcomes.
