Benelong’s Haven is an Aboriginal Alcohol & Drug Family Rehabilitation Centre in New South Wales. This presentation outlined how cognitive-behavioural therapy was used to target the treatment of clients who were at risk of suicide. The group function was developed in response to a specific Aboriginal-based demand. The dynamics of the group, its advantages & disadvantages were discussed. The main goal of the group is to increase self-awareness & provides skills to deal with negative thoughts.
