The purpose of this presentation was to report the outcomes of an approach taken, where appropriate, to suicidal callers, to illustrate the rationale for the new service delivery model via case study, & to discuss the benefits of such a model. The approach is to conduct a risk assessment, contain immediate crisis, & offer brief counselling support & vrbal referral. The presentation also included an explanation of the process involved in such an approach & an opportunity to discuss the potential of this redevelopment with other services, leading towards a more integrated approach to suicide intervention.
