This presentation discussed the Mackay and Moranbah District Youth Suicide Prevention Project which developed a risk assessment instrument, distributed a “Green Card” to facilitate self-referrals, developed a hotline for referral to mental health workers, & a psychosocial interview schedule to examine the efficacy of the interventions. Benefits of the project were outlined & included changes in attitude & knowledge of medical staff involved in the project. Key concerns like maintaining the momentum of the project when funds run out were identified.
