A limiting factor in suicide prevention is that it is not possible to predict suicidal behaviour in those individuals among the many who are suicidal. This presentation examined studies designed to predict suicide & repeated attempted suicide. It was suggested the ideal research design of randomised controlled trails may not be feasible in confirming the efficacy of prevention programs, & alternative studies utilising innovative methodologies may be more appropriate.
