Economically depressed communities have specific needs that disadvantage young people’s learning & exacerbate social liability. Manifestations of this include isolation, diminished access to services, limited ongoing support, & lack of association with the broader framework of contemporary society. This workshop explored a range of current techniques & theoretical practices that reflect effective practice. Emerging trends for subgroups within rural communites were examined. The trial of an interactive model of services delivery, based on a cooperative approach between welfare services & schools, was discussed.
