This presentation described a cognitive oriented individual psychotherapy developed by the LifeSPAN program for young people with serious mental illness. The intervention was specifically designed to address the psychological issues pertaining to a young person’s suicidality including how this may interact with their experience of a serious mental illness. Theoretical & clinical applications of the intervention were discussed. Problem areas were highlighted. The adaptation of the intervention to other clinical programs was also discussed.
