This paper describes a project which aimed to prevent suicide among young people in the mid-north area of South Australia. Two examples of intersectoral collaboration are provided: 1) the W.A.Y.S. Working Against Youth Suicide Committee which aimed to raise community awareness, provide an agency network, facilitate training for professionals & foster an atmosphere in which young people’s contributions are validated & celebrated; & 2) Palya, The John Pirie Aboriginal Student Group which aimed to support indigenous students attending the school, reducing rates of injury, self-harm, & suicidal ideation among these students & provide culturally appropriate strategies which affirm the strengths of indigenous youth.
