Suicide is a multidetermined act. The importance of psychiatric, social, & biological factors is well established. However, increasing data suggest that genetic factors may also play a role in suicidal behaviours. This paper will examine this possibility by reviewing relevant clinical, twin, & adoption studies, as well as recent molecular genetic studies. (54 refs.)
