All school districts in Washington State were surveyed for information on the prevalence of suicide programs & on major roadblocks to implementing programs. With 163 districts responding, it was found that the majority did not have suicide programs or policies & procedures. The largest perceived roadblock was insufficient staff & the greatest perceived need was more information. Implications of the findings are discussed as is the need for further efforts to develop appropriate school programs.
