This study analyzed data collected on patients presenting to the general hospital in Oxford. It investigated trends in deliberate self-harm in people under the age of 20 between 1985 & 1995. Results indicate a substantial increase in the number of teenagers admitted for self-harm during this period. The article reports that the majority of these adolescents had interpersonal problems &/or difficulties with their studies or employment. (32 refs) (SC)
