In this letter to the editor, the authors report on their study of method-specific suicide rates for men & women aged 15-34 years in France & compare their findings to those published for England & Wales by Gunnell & colleagues. A divergence in overall suicide trends according to gender that was observed in England & Wales was not present in France.
