Two case illustrations of crisis intervention with depressed adolescents with comorbid conduct problems are presented. The therapist, who works out of a cognitive-behavioral perspective, demonstrates the importance of dealing directly, & openly with the crisis situation from the outset. Further, transcript materials from each case highlights how the therapist can use confrontation, as well as Socratic questioning, to stimulate adolescent patients into active engagement in the process of therapy.
