This article presents the results of a pilot study conducted on a nationwide sample of the Finnish population that examined risk factors for mental disorders & suicide in late adolescence. 479 adolescence aged 18-22 were screened for mental disorders using the 12-item General Health Questionnaire. The article found that the prevalence of suicidality among the genders of adolescene did not differ. Alcohol abuse was the only factor independently associated with risk of suicidality. (AK)
