This book is the autobiography of Susanna Kaysen who was institutionalized in a psychiatric hospital in the 1960s. She writes about her thoughts during this time, her illness, & events in the hospital. She discusses social stigma, eating disorders, suicide, hospitalization, & mental illnesses.
