Clinical features of alcohol-dependent suicide attempters & the treatment they received before & after the index attempt were studied. 47 subjects were identified from a systematic sample of 114 attempters in Helsinki. In the month before the attempt, 51% of subjects had received health care services, 11% of received disulfiram-treatment & 6% had received psychotherapy. Findings suggest that treatment received by individuals with alcohol dependence does not change much after a suicide attempt.
