This study examined the reliability & validity of the Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire-Junior (SIQ-JR) as an instrument for identifying & assessing current suicidal ideation in a sample of 91 children & adolescents in an inner-city parochial school. Results support the use of the questionnaire as a reliable & valid measure for the evaluation of suicidal ideation in children & young adolescents. Results & their implications for school psychologists are discussed. (69 refs.)
