The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the treatment methods judged by total abstinence over the 2 year period Jan 1960 – October 1961. 8 of 106 patients died within 6 – 12 months after discharge. All were between 35 & 50 years of age. One death from suicide by gassing, one suicide by drowning, four deaths by coronary thrombosis, one death of carcinoma of the thyriod. Two deaths were due to asphyxia while intoxicated.
