Italy’s regional distribution of suicide rates for 1992 show a clear positive relationship with indicators of wealth & of social disintegration in both genders. There is also a significantly positive relationship between suicide rates & separation & divorce rates, & a significantly negative relationship between suicide rate & marriage rates. Wealthy regions have higher suicide rates, above all for males: possibly wealthy areas have a greater prevalence of individuals at risk of suicide.
