Appendix: Guidelines for Identification, Assessment, and Treatment Planning for Suicidality (IN: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Suicide Assessment and Intervention, edited by D G Jacobs)

This document provides a guideline for the intervention, assessment and treatment of suicidal people. Information includes when and how assessments should be made, evaluation of risk, signs and responses that indicate severity of risk, contracts and trust building and assessing patient emotional coping potential. Also provided is a brief explanation of associated mood disorders and panic disorders which are believed to potentially aggravate suicidal tendancies.
