This letter is written in response to a paper by Joan Beder regarding the bereavement process in surviving families of physician-assisted suicide (PAS) cases. James Werth writes that Beder’s paper outlines only the problematic issues of bereavement in families with religious or moral conflict about PAS, and does not address PAS as a positive solution for those terminally ill or in chronic pain. Also included is Beder’s response and apology for the narrow content of the original article.
