In this article, Alan Apter reviews the work of T. Fuse. Apter calls Fuse’s work “a good basic text” on suicide and gives a chapter by chapter description of the book. Fuse’s work is for “anyone looking for a comprehensive introduction to the study of suicide”. Apter focuses on the cultural value of Fuse’s work, as Fuse writes between cultures – defining how perceptions of suicide vary from the Eastern to the Western world, and how suicidology came to be a field of scientific study.
