This article reviews Surviving The Fall: The Personal Journey of an AIDS Doctor. Hendin comments on both the content of the book and the personal experiences of it’s author. In his book, Peter Selwyn writes about the bereavement process in families torn apart by AIDS, and the effect of his father’s suicidal death on his chosen field of work. Hendin describes how Selwyn’s work is affected by loss, and how he survived emotional trauma by counselling others through the bereavement process.
