In this article, Davis Lester comments on the damage of professional egotism and misappropriation of funds in suicide studies. Lester points out wasted opportunities in the creation of Nevada and Toronto suicide centers, and subsequent staffing of unqualified researchers. Lester provides a better list of candidates for these positions, and describes the four national suicide crisis centers in the United Sates, with a brief update on their recent activities.
