This article documents the biography of Kay Jamison, a physiological researcher and personal sufferer of manic depression. Born in 1946, Jamison lived the unstable life of a military child, yet went on to success, completing a doctorate at UCLA. Although receiving lithium and psychotherapy, Jamison attempted suicide in 1975. However through continuing treatments and family support, Jamieson went on to professional success in the establishment of the renowned UCLA Mood Disorder Clinic.
