This article reviews research by Remafedi et al (see SIEC #910898). Remafedi & his colleagues found that 30% of the gay & bisexual males in the study attempted suicide at least once; over half of these reported multiple attempts. The attempts were more serious & potentially more lethal when compared to youth suicide attempts in the general population. The original study called for better training for school officials & claimed that most suicide research does not look at sexual identity.
