This paper presents the information in 4 tables. Table 1 shows the suicide rate in New Jersey and the United States from 1970 to 1990. Table 2 shows the suicide rate in New Jersey by age, sex and race. Table 3 shows the suicide rate in each New Jersey county from 1970, 1980, and 1990. Table 4 contains data on methods used in suicide for 1980 and 1985. Suicide rates in New Jersey are lower than in the other States; there is a steady increase in the suicide rate from 1970 – 1990.
